What does a red nose mean to you?!
Does it symbolize the fun of the circus, or does it remind you of Red Nose Day, the annual celebration of comedy which raises money for good causes in the UK and around the world?
Wouldn’t it be fun to make your own red nose to wear as part of a clown costume or on Red Nose Day?

Yes?
Well here is how to make your own clown nose at home using recycled materials that you can find at home. This is a quick and easy craft that kids will love.
Adult supervision will be needed for younger kids as scissors are required.
First take your empty egg box and with scissors cut out one of the trays that holds an egg.

Neaten the edge to make it smooth.
If your egg box, like mine leaves you with gaps in your nose, cut the long bit slightly shorter as this will make your nose a little more comfotable to wear.

Next colour your nose red. I’ve used some acrylic paint here, but you could use poster paints, coloured pencils, fibre tip pens or crayons.
Cover the outside of the nose completely and leave to dry.

When it is completely dry you will need to punch a small hole in each side of the nose to attach your string or elastic. Since egg box material is quite soft you should be able to do this by poking a sharp pencil into it. A knitting needle would work well too. Adult supervision is recommended for this bit.

Measure out a piece of elastic to go around your head, poke it through the hole and tie it firmly with a double knot. If you are using string or ribbon, cut two pieces long enough to tie in a bow around your head.
