International Dog Day

International Dog Day, sometimes known as National Dog Day or even just Dog Day, is the annual celebration for dog lovers around the world. It's a day to appreciate and celebrate dogs - whether domesticated or wild, mixed breed or pure.
There is however more than one dog day celebrated around the world.
The most widely accepted day for celebrating our canine friends is International Dog Day is August 26th. This day is organised by Animal Welfare Advocate, Author and Pet Lifestyle Expert, Colleen Paige. You can find out more at her National Dog Day website.
Other Dog Day celebrations include:-
- National Walking the Dog Day which is celebrated on February 22nd.
- National Hug Your Hound Day which is held on September 14th.
- International Wolf Day which is held on 13th August,
How To Celebrate International Dog Day
The best way to celebrate is to show your pet dog just how much you love them! Give them a favourite meal, buy them a new dog toy or best of all, just spend some extra time making a fuss of them.
Here are some more ideas for International Dog Day:-
- Take your dog out for their favourite walk.
- Photograph your dog looking particularly adorable. Post on social media if you wish.
- If you dog enjoys dressing up, buy them a new accessory for the picture.
- Make a donation to one of the many charities that are supporting and campaigning for dogs, rescuing and rehoming pet dogs or offering free vet services and neutering to owners on low incomes.
