Red Nose Day 2024 will be held on Friday 17th March.
Red Nose Day is an fundraising event run by the charity Comic Relief, to raise money for people in the UK and around the world, to tackle the most pressing issues of the moment.
The British charity Comic Relief was founded in 1985 to raise money to help those affected by famine in Ethiopia in the wake of the Band Aid single and Live Aid concert. The first Red Nose Day was held in 1988 and included a comedy telethon broadcast on BBC 1, and money was raised from the sale of red noses.
Since then it has been held every other year and the purpose of the fundraising has widened its scope to include the UK and all other parts of the world.
The current fundraising efforts are focussed on child poverty and safety, helping those adversely affected by Covid-19, projects to address racial and gender equality, homelessness and mental health problems.
Since 2022 Comic Relief has been held each year in mid-March. Here are some cool fun ideas for celebrating Comic relief, including red Nose games, recipes and crafts.
