The 80th Anniversary of VE Day will take place on Thursday 8th May 2025. It will be known as VE80
Although it has not been designated a national holiday, there are a number of celebratory events planned for that day, and it is hoped that private celebrations such as street parties and other community events will be held. You can find out about all the planned events at veday80.org.uk.
Events already announced include proclaimations, bells rung in churches, beacons being lit and theatre shows. We are also being encouraged to eat fish and chips during the day, to honour the contribution of farmers and land girls who worked throughout the war.
Perhaps you want to celebrate at home while you watch the events on the television or online. Maybe there will be a street party near you or even a special event in a local venue
If you want some ideas of things to do, recipe inspriation and decorations to make, here are lots of VE80-themed things to do such as crafts, puzzles, colouring puzzles and much more to join in the celebrations.
