80th Anniversary of VJ Day

In 2025 the 80th anniversary of VJ Day will be celebrated on August 15th. This celebrates Victory over Japan Day, marking the day when Imperial Japan surrendered in World War Two.
September 2 1945 was the day when the surrender document was signed, officially ending World War II. This is also often referred to as VJ Day.
Although it has not been designated a national holiday, there are a number of celebratory events planned for that day.
The day will be a little more low-key than the VE Day anniversary celebrations held in May this year.
