International Lego Day

International Lego Day is celebrated annually on January 28th, which marks the day the first patent for the 2x4 LEGO brick was submitted in Denmark by it's inventor Ole Kirk Christiansen .

From this small beginning LEGO has grown to be on of the best know brands on planet earth. Today, the LEGO Group remains a family-owned company headquartered in Billund. Its products are now sold in more than 120 countries worldwide.

It has also expanded into LEGO theme parks as well with 10 LEGOLAND theme parks in Denmark, the UK, Germany as well as 3 in Asia and 4 in the US. There are also 5 LEGOLAND water parks in the US and Italy and 27 LEGOLAND Discovery Centres across the world.

How To Celebrate International LEGO Day

So you LOVE your LEGO! So how do you show your love on International LEGO DAY?

First and foremost, play with your LEGO. Whether you build one of the many kits available or use the colourful bricks to make your own design, it is simply the best way to celebrate LEGO Day.

  1. Visit one of the LEGOLAND parks or discovery centres and have a day full of LEGO themed fun.
  2. Watch one of the fabulous and funny LEGO movies.
  3. Bake a LEGO Cake.
  4. Buy a new LEGO set to build.
  5. Check out some clever LEGO animations on You Tube.
