World Book Day is celebrated each year in the first week in March. It is a day to encourage reading and a love of books in children.
Schools around the UK will invite pupils to dress up as characters from their favourite book, and the school will organise lots of book related activities.
A collection of books are published each year especially for World Book Day which cost just £1, and schoolchildren are given a voucher worth £1 so that they can buy their choice of book.
