Kids New DVD Releases September and October 2017

There are a great bunch of kids and family movies due for release in autumn 2017!

There are sequels from some popular franchises with superheroes (male and female), pirates and wimpy kids along with a musical dog!

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman (12A) is based on the DC Comics character which also spawned the popular 1970’s TV series.  In the early 20th century, the Amazon princess Diana, who is living on the island of Themyscira, meets American military pilot Steve Trevor when he is washed ashore.

After learning from him about the events of World War I, she leaves her home for London to bring an early end to the war. Starring Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, David Thewlis and Lucy Davies.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge (12A) (Known as ‘Dead Men Tell No Tales’ in the US) is the 5th instalment of the POTC franchise.

Captain Jack Sparrow is being pursued by an old rival, Armando Salazar, who along with his Spanish Navy ghost crew has escaped from the Devil's Triangle.  Jack has to search for the Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artefact that grants its possessor total control over the seas, which will help him defeat Salazar.

Stars returning for this instalment include Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush and Kevin McNally with Javier Bardem as Salazar and a cameo appearance from Paul McCartney.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (U) With a completely new cast compared with previous films (the original actors have now grown too old to pass as middle schoolers!), this story takes place one year after the events of the previous film, Dog Days.

Greg Heffley and his brother Rodrick convince their family to go on a road trip for their grandmother's 90th birthday, but they actually intend on attending a video game convention that is being held a few miles from her house. Starring Alicia Silverstone, Tom Everett Scott, Jason Drucker, Charlie Wright and Owen Asztalos.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (12A) continue the team’s adventures as they cross the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mystery of Peter Quill’s true parentage.

Old foes become new allies and fan-favourite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid. Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Michael Rooker and Karen Gillan.

The Canterville Ghost

Out for the first time on Blu-ray and featuring an all-star cast lead by Patrick Stewart alongside Neve Campbell, Joan Sims, Donald Sinden and Cherie Lunghi comes a magical adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s classic tale The Canterville Ghost (U).

Fearing a life of boredom when her family relocates from America to a sprawling English stately home, teenager Ginny Otis is in for quite a surprise. Strange goings-on are soon explained when she encounters the ghost of Sir Simon de Canterville, who can only be seen by Ginny and her brothers. An understandably grouchy ghost at first, Ginny learns his sorrowful tale and vows to help him lift the curse that will keep him haunting the corridors of Canterville Hall forever.

Transformers: The Last Knight

Transformers: The Last Knight(12A) sees humans and Transformers at war and Optimus Prime gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth. Saving our world falls upon the shoulders of an unlikely alliance; Cade Yeager, Bumblebee, an English Lord and an Oxford Professor.

Starring Mark Wahlberg, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Laura Haddock, it is out on 30th October.

Rock Dog

Rock Dog (PG) A Tibetan mastiff, Bodi, must defy the naysayers in his remote mountain community when he dicides he wants to follow his dream - of becoming a rock star like his idol, Angus Scattergood. However, there's no one left to guard the sheep when he goes away to seek his fortune in the big city, rendering his flock vulnerable to a hungry wolf.

With the voices of Luke Wilson, Eddie Izzard, Matt Dillon, Kenan Thompson and Sam Elliott.

A Dog's Purpose

A Dog's Purpose (PG) is based on the popular novel by W. Bruce Cameron. The film shares the soulful and surprising story of one devoted dog who finds the meaning of his own existence through the lives of the humans he teaches to laugh and love.

Starring Josh Gad as the voice of the Dog, with Dennis Quaid, Juliet Rylance, John Ortiz and Pooch Hall.
