As the summer holidays approach, you may be trying to think of lots of things to do in the summer. If you and your kids are movie fans you will all be looking forward to the latest selection of family DVD, Blu-ray and download releases.
As usual there there are lots of DVDs due for release, including the brand new animated version of Beatrix Potter's Peter Rabbit and the rebooted version of Tomb Raider.
So let's gather on the sofa and watch some great new movies!

In spite of the kerfuffle about one particular scene, this CGI animated version of Peter Rabbit (PG) was the must-watch movie for Easter this year. The DVD is out on 23rd July.
Very, very loosely based on Beatrix Potter’s ever-popular Peter Rabbit book, Peter now takes on the starring role of his own irreverent, contemporary comedy with attitude. In the film, Peter's feud with Mr. McGregor escalates to greater heights than ever before as they rival for the affections of the warm-hearted animal lover who lives next door.
With the voices of James Corden, Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Debicki, Daisy Ridley and Sia.
July 16th sees the DVD release of Spanish made animation Tad the Lost Explorer and the Secret of King Midas, (U) the story of Tad Jones, an awkward explorer and archaeology student.
When Tad travels to Las Vegas to see his friend Sara's latest discovery - a papyrus that proves the existence of King Midas – he learns that his secret was a necklace which turned everything he touched into gold. But the happy encounter between Tad and Sara is disrupted when the evil Jack Rackham steals the papyrus and kidnaps Sara, forcing her to find the necklace so that he can keep this source of infinite wealth for himself.

Also out on DVD on 16th July is Tomb Raider(12A), a reboot of the original Tomb Raider films which starred Angelina Jolie. Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen.
Leaving everything she knows behind, Lara goes in search of her dad's last-known destination: a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan. The stakes couldn't be higher for Lara. Against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit she must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown.
Starring Alicia Vikander, Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu and Kristin Scott Thomas.

23rd July sees the DVD release of Duck Duck Goose (PG) in which a high-flying but irresponsible goose named Peng get injured in flight, causing him to crash-land next to a pair of recently hatched ducklings.
They don't have anyone else to look after them, so he's stuck with them. With no other option but to bring them with him on his journey south, Peng is in for an incredible adventure that will see him truly become part of a family for the first time.
With the voices of Jim Gaffigan, Zendaya and Stephen Fry.
The follow-up to 2013's cinematic epic of monsters and mechs, Pacific Rim Uprising (12A) is the story of Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, who reunites with Mako Mori to lead a new generation of Jaeger pilots, including rival Lambert and 15-year-old hacker Amara, against a new Kaiju threat.
Best Kids DVDs on 30th July it stars John Boyega, Scott Eastwood and Charlie Day.
The 30th July also sees the DVD release of another literary-inspired book, this time the classic A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle. The story follows the incredible adventures of Meg Murry, who sets out on a time and space-bending journey through the cosmos to try and rescue her missing father.
With the help of three powerful beings called Mrs. Which, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Whatsit, Meg tries to overcome the ancient evil force that’s holding her father prisoner. And the only way to defeat this darkness is to become the light.
A Wrinkle In Time (PG) stars Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Zach Galifianakis and Chris Pine.
The final release for 30th July is the follow up to 2015's Maya The Bee.
In Maya The Bee 2: The Honey Games (U), an overenthusiastic Maya accidentally embarrasses the Empress of thriving hive Buzztropolis, so she is forced to unite with a team of misfit bugs and compete in the iconic Honey Games. The stakes couldn't be higher; if Maya loses, her hive on Poppy Meadow will be depleted of all its honey.
Maya must call on her friendship with a cohort of clumsy, loveable and trustworthy bugs to go on an epic journey. They realise it takes more than a plucky attitude to be a champion and they must listen to friends and foes alike to guide them to victory.

Ready Player One (12A) is the latest film from Steven Spielberg and is set in 2045. It is available to buy from 6th August 2018.

When Halliday dies, he leaves his immense fortune to the first person to find a digital Easter egg he has hidden somewhere in the OASIS, sparking a contest that grips the entire world. When an unlikely young hero named Wade Watts decides to join the contest, he is hurled into a breakneck, reality-bending treasure hunt through a fantastical universe of mystery, discovery and danger.

Isle of Dogs (PG) is the latest film from Wes Anderson, and is a stop motion film set 20 years in the future. An outbreak of dog flu in Japan causes Mayor Kobayashi to banish all dogs to a rubbish dump called Trash Island - the ‘Isle Of Dogs’.
Desperate to bring his missing pet back home, Atari hijacks a plane and ventures forth on a perilous mission to the island. Teaming up with a pack of other exiled dogs, he searches for his old friend on an adventure that will decide the future of the country. The film is out on DVD on 6th August and stars the voices of Bryan Cranston, Edward Norton and Bill Murray.
