Keycamp Launch UK Nature Holidays

Back to nature breaks from £100 per family for three nights

16th June 2009

If the latest series of Springwatch has got you in the mood for the great outdoors and a bit of wildlife then why not take a look at Keycamp’s new short or week long UK breaks, which are set to help you get closer to nature this summer.

Keycamp now offer nine UK Escapes campsites - seven of which, through their partnership with Forest Holidays, give customers rare access to unspoilt Forestry Commission land. There are also two National Trust sites in the Lake District allowing families the opportunity to holiday in the UK and get close to the beauty and simplicity of nature.

To help make the most of these surroundings, families staying at selected sites (excluding the Lake District) can opt to join in the exciting Forest Ranger activities*, which include Forest Survival skills with den building and orienteering; Young Explorers sessions with crafts and games based around the natural environment; and Into the Wild half day nature walks.

Campsites are located across the country including the serene New Forest, beautiful Loch Lomond and rugged Snowdonia. And with Keycamp, you can start enjoying your holiday straight away. Forget packing your own tent and camping equipment – a comfortable six-berth tent, complete with a large living area and three separate sleeping compartments with beds, pillows and blankets will be ready upon your arrival.

The self-catered accommodation also includes a 4-burner hob, crockery, cutlery, wind-up lanterns and a cool box, plus outdoor table, chairs and a charcoal barbecue. Good quality toilet and shower facilities and shops are available on parc as well.

Action and adventure in the Welsh mountains

If you’re into outdoor adventures, then look no further than Keycamp’s campsite at Beddgelert, which is situated in a stunning forest location in Snowdonia National Park.

Surrounded by the dramatic Welsh hills and with Mount Snowdon within walking distance, Beddgelert is perfectly for those who enjoy climbing or rambling, while watersports enthusiasts will enjoy the on site canoeing. The Forest Ranger activities, meanwhile, are perfect for nature-lovers who will get the chance to discover the local birds, animals and rare plants. A children’s playground is also provided.

Out and about, there is plenty to keep families entertained – from scenic rides on the Snowdon Mountain Railway to exploring the medieval castle at Harlech or a day trip to the eclectic Portmeirion Village.

A seven night stay during July 2009 for a family of two adults and four children, staying in a six-berth tent will cost just £250, while three-night weekend breaks will cost from just £100.

*Forest Ranger activities are available at a supplement on selected Forest Holidays sites.

California Cliffs Holiday Park
As our family are great beach lovers, any chance to feel the sand between our toes is always going to be a winner. The opportunity to go to Norfolk rather than our usual comfort zone of Devon and Cornwall, while still getting the longed for beach experience was very exciting too, for two small boys, their parents and Grandma too (Babysitter? You bet!).

As we drive along the M27 towards Eastleigh airport, Imogen calls from the back of the car "Mummy, are we there yet?"
