MagNext Named Science Museum
SMart Toy of the Year 2008

MagNext, a magnetic construction kit allowing kids to build bigger and faster than ever before, has been named SMart Toy of the Year 2008 by the Science Museum as part of the third annual SMart Toy Awards.

MagNext is overall winner and winner of the SMart Build category. Other category winners include home experiment kit Kitchen Chemistry (SMart Explore); magnetic marble run iCoaster (SMart Play); and the amazing Science Museum Science Putty (Kids’ Choice).

The awards celebrate the most intelligent new children’s products and are designed to provide an informative guide for adults and children to help them choose the most fun, educational and intelligent toys on the market. Winners are chosen by an expert panel of judges alongside a team of 25 toy testers, aged 6-14.

The awards’ criteria required the judges to look for innovative toys of good value that link to science and encourage play and socialising. MagNext is a toy that allows boys and girls to build towers, bridges, buildings and more whilst getting to grips with the principles of engineering.

Jeff Woolf OBE for Services to Innovation and member of the judging panel said: "Britain has had a long heritage of invention and innovation and we are dangerously close to making this tradition a thing of the past. But I believe the best way to get the younger generations interested in science and continuing to invent and innovate is through play. The SMart Toy Awards are a great means to reach children and create a change for good."
