Britain’s Ideal Modern Family15th October 2009 After the breakup of the century, the nation has been divided into ‘Team Andre’ and ‘Team Price’ after the celebrity couple ended their marriage back in May. But when it comes to family values it seems our loyalties firmly lie with Peter Andre, who recently released his hit album Revelation. A nationwide poll out today crowns the Aussie singer as best dad while his estranged wife Katie Price, whose latest book Standing Out is published on 22nd October, got one of the lowest votes for best mum. To celebrate the launch of the new US sitcom Modern Family, Sky1 polled 3,000 people to discover their thoughts and perceptions of today’s family unit. The poll garnered some fascinating observations - with nearly a third of Brits voting The Beckhams the best representation of today’s modern family, beating the dysfunctional Simpsons family by just 1% of the vote. Kate Winslet and Davina McCall led the poll for best role model as a mother with 38% and 33% of the votes respectively. Katie Price’s fall from grace was cemented in the poll where she only managed to secure 2% of the vote, alongside tabloid bad girls Kate Moss and Kerry Katona. Furthermore, the nationwide poll saw Peter Andre (29.1%) voted best role model as a father, fighting off competition from David Beckham (20.9%) and Brad Pitt (16.2%). Modern Family - starting Thursday 15th October at 8pm on Sky1 and Sky1 HD – stars Sofia Vergara and Ed O’Neill, and celebrates diversity with an eclectic mix of characters including the 2.4 children family unit, a multi-cultural family, and a gay couple who have recently adopted a child from Vietnam.
