There are some fantastic kids and family movies due to be released on DVD and Streaming and Blu-ray and also available to stream in May and June.

So if you are looking for something for your family movie night or for a rainy afternoon, here are the best movies coming out in the near future.

Little Women

On 25th May you can buy or stream Greta Gerwig’s take on Little Women(U), which draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author's alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life.

The beloved story of the March sisters - four young women each determined to live life on her own terms - is both timeless and timely.

The film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothee Chalamet, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood

A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood (PG) is a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod.

Mister Rogers was the star of the long running US TV Series Mister Roger’s Neighbourhood, a half-hour educational children's television series with a powerfully affecting message about acceptance and understanding.

Available to stream from 25th May, it stars Tom Hanks and Matthew Rhys. The DVD and Blu-ray release date is currently unconfirmed.

Cats

The 1st June sees the release of Cats (TBC), the film version of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s huge hit musical based on T.S. Elliot’s poems about or feline friends. Cats received its world premiere at the New London Theatre in 1981 - where it played for 21 record-breaking years and almost 9,000 performances.

The film got rather mixed reviews, however it stars the cream of British theatre, including Ian McKellen, James Corden, Dame Judi Dench and Idris Elba, as well as US stars Jennifer Hudson, Taylor Swift and Jason Derulo.

Spycies

Vladimir, a highly skilled but disobedient secret agent, is watching over some top-secret material: the Radiuzite – which unfortunately is stolen.

Compelled to team up with Hector, a rookie agent, whose only wish is to play video games and watch soap operas, this unusual team rush into a crazy investigation inside an even crazier hospital. There, they'll have to find the stolen Radiuzite and discover the truth about a climate threat which endangers species on the brink of extinction.

Spycies (PG) is a Chinese animation is released on DVD and Blu-ray on 8th June and features the voices of   Karen Strassman, Monsieur Poulpe and Davy Mourier.

The Personal History of David Copperfield

June 15th sees the release of The Personal History of David Copperfield (PG) based on the book by Charles Dickens and brought to the screen as a comedy drama by Armando Ianucci, who gave us The Death of Stalin and The Thick of It – but don’t worry, this one is a PG!

Both touching and very, very funny, it stars Dev Patel along with Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, Aneurin Barnard, Ben Whishaw and  Peter Capaldi as Mr. Micawber.
