Healthy Snack Meals From Dolmio

Turkey, Spicy Tomato and Sweet Onion Pittas

For a fantastic DOLMIO-style snack, nothing beats these healthy, low fat tasty pittas! Dolmio Spicy Tomato and Sweet Onion Stir-In contains no added artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and is made with 100% natural ingredients

Ingredients
1 tbsp vegetable oil
150g turkey stir-fry strips
150g pot DOLMIO Spicy Tomato & Sweet Onion Stir-In Sauce
2 pitta breads
Mixed salad leaves
6 cherry tomatoes, halved
Cucumber slices
Chopped spring onion

Directions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or frying pan. Add the turkey and stir-fry over a medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes, or until the turkey is cooked and browned.
  2. Add the pot of DOLMIO Tomato & Sweet Onion Stir-In Sauce. Cook for a few moments until heated through.
  3. Warm the pitta breads in a toaster or under the grill. Split them open then stuff them with salad leaves, tomato, cucumber and spring onion and share the turkey mixture between them. Serve at once.

Cook’s tips: Try using DOLMIO Cherry Tomato & Pesto Stir-In or one of the other varieties of DOLMIO Stir-In sauces. Use chicken stir-fry strips or sliced lean lamb instead of turkey.

Chicken & Prawn Jambalaya

This quick family meal is sheer inspiration! Its tasty secret is the addition of DOLMIO Spicy Pepperoni & Tomato Stir-in Sauce. Yum! Dolmio Spicy Pepperoni & Tomato Stir-In contains no added artificial colours, flavours or preservatives

Ingredients
225g long grain rice
2 tbsp olive oil
300g stir-fry chicken strips or chunks
3 sticks celery, sliced
1 large onion, chopped
1 green pepper, deseeded and chopped
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1-2 tsp Cajun seasoning, according to taste
1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme (or 1 tsp dried thyme)
150g pot DOLMIO Spicy Pepperoni & Tomato Stir-in Sauce
200g cooked peeled prawns, defrosted if frozen

Directions

  1. Cook the rice in plenty of boiling water until tender, about 12 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large frying pan or wok and sauté the chicken for about 3-4 minutes, until browned. Add the celery, onion, green pepper and garlic. Cook, stirring, for about 3 minutes, until softened.
  3. Add the Cajun seasoning and thyme. Cook gently, stirring occasionally, for a further 5 minutes.
  4. Drain the rice thoroughly, then add it to the frying pan with the DOLMIO Spicy Pepperoni & Tomato Stir-in Sauce, stirring well to combine. Add the prawns and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until thoroughly heated, then serve.

Cook’s tips: If you can’t find Cajun seasoning, use 1 tsp of chilli powder and a pinch of cayenne pepper, or add according to taste. Cool any leftovers quickly and keep covered and refrigerated. Use the next day – either thoroughly re-heated, or eaten cold for a packed lunch.

Vegetable Stir-fry with Slow Roasted Garlic & Tomato Sauce

When you’re looking for a tasty, healthy meal that’s very low in calories and fat, this sensational vegetable stir-fry fits the bill. What’s more, it will give you all the vegetables you need for your 5-a-day quota in one tasty hit! Dolmio Slow Roasted Garlic & Tomato Stir-In contains no added artificial colours, flavours or preservatives and is made with 100% natural ingredients

Ingredients
2 tsp vegetable oil
1 bunch spring onions, trimmed and sliced
150g sugar-snap peas or mangetout, halved
100g baby corn, halved
1 large carrot, cut into thin strips
100g fine green beans, halved
1 red pepper, deseeded and thinly sliced
100g mushrooms, sliced
2-3 Savoy or white cabbage leaves, shredded
150g pot DOLMIO Slow Roasted Garlic & Tomato Stir-in Sauce
Chopped fresh coriander or chives, to garnish

Directions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan.
  2. Add all the vegetables and stir-fry over a high heat for 4-5 minutes, adding a splash of water after about 2 minutes to steam-cook the vegetables.
  3. Tip in the pot of DOLMIO Slow Roasted Garlic & Tomato Stir-in Sauce. Cook and stir for another few moments until heated through, then serve, garnished with chopped fresh coriander or chives.

Cook’s tips: Vary the vegetables as you wish, according to what’s in season. For a more filling meal, serve with rice or noodles.
