Easter DIY Tips For
You And Your Kids

Easter is a very popular time for making home improvements. It’s also, above all, about spending time with your children. So if you’re looking for enjoyable things to do with your kids over the holidays, why not enlist some young helpers to assist you with doing up the house? It’s creative, it’s fun, it brings your family together and it gives kids a real sense of involvement and achievement.

A new survey published by Wilkinson’s to coincide with the Easter holidays reveals that nearly a third of us will be tackling a spot of DIY over the break.

But, as home improvement legend ‘Handy’ Andy Kane says, “When it comes to DIY and spring cleaning, don’t immediately think the kids need to be kept out of from under your feet while you get on with the work. In fact, the opposite is true, and getting the kids involved can be fun for everyone, and help make for a happy home afterwards”

First, you need to find out what type of DIY-er you are so click here and find out.

Andy’s prepared some ‘handy’ tips to help you and your brood make the most of the Easter break.

  1. Framing paintings or prints that they have done in school make a great addition to walls, and is a good way to encourage your kids’ artistic side.
  2. Take them along to select colour charts and collect wall paper samples. Kids have vivid imaginations, and they may surprise you! By making them part of the project they can feel a sense of involvement with the finished article.
  3. When spring cleaning, encourage the kids to do simple things like dusting or hosing down the patio. They will enjoy the sense of achievement from a job well done!
  4. Give them safe, simple tasks to do, like pulling off old wallpaper or washing paint brushes – they will enjoy the feeling that they are helping
  5. Stencilling, rag rolling and sponging are all fun paint techniques that your kids will enjoy – show them what to do, and give them an area to take charge of.

Hey presto – happy DIY, happy kids and Happy Easter. For more information visit www.wilkinsonplus.com/icat/diydecorating
