Odds Farm Park

In the countryside of South Buckinghamshire nestles Odds Farm Park, a rare breeds farm designed with children in mind. With the chance to not only see but feed the animals and an extensive year round programme of events it is a great place to visit with the children at any time of the year.

The farm is open every day of the year except Christmas and New Year and whatever time of year you visit there will be something to do.

First and foremost there are, of course, the animals. There are rare breeds of sheep, goats, cows and pigs. There also rabbits you can pet (if they are not too shy!)

There are lots of opportunities to meet and touch the animals. You can get a bag of feed which is suitable for the sheep and goats which you can use to hand feed them. Just remember to save something for the furthest end if the park; you feel so bad when an animal that looks sadly at you because everyone has always run out of feed by the time they reach him! Signs will always warn you if an animal should not be fed, and you may have to move fast to stop the goats eating the empty paper bag. There is also a chance to bottle feed lambs - very popular so get in early. You can get also get a tour of the farm on the tractor ride – always popular with the kids.

You really will need a whole day to visit as there is plenty more to do yet. Outdoors there are lots of play areas with outdoor games, climbing frames and swings, a log climbing frame, sand pit and an orienteering trail. If the weather turns wet, indoors there is a hay bale climb, ride on cars for under 5’s, ride on tractors, and many of the animals are kept in barns and pens which are under cover.

The centre has excellent facilities including a tea room, lots of picnic areas and hand washing facilities placed at many points around the farm.

The site has full pushchair and wheelchair access and has recently added new tarmac paths, although bear in mind it is a farm and may still be muddy. There are also baby changing facilities.

You can now also play Crazy Golf, and new for 2007 is Piglets Speedway, a fun go kart attraction along with a new heated indoor picnic area with soft play area for toddlers.

With free parking, a programme of special events at Easter, Halloween and Christmas, Odds Farm Park makes a really good day out, and if you live nearby it will surely become a regular port of call. Opening times vary so do check before travelling.
