World Book Day is back for 2013! March 7th 2013 sees the 16th World book day, created to encourage children all around the world to get reading.
And this year top children's authors including Shirley Hughes, Lauren Child, Tony Robinson and Francesca Simon have written exclusive mini-books costing just £1.
In the UK, every primary school child in the country is entitled to receive a £1 World Book Day Token. These are distributed to children via their school and may be exchanged either for one of eight special World Book Day Books, or be used towards the purchase of any other book at participating bookshops.
Lots of schools and libraries will be holding special World Book day events including readathons, book sales, author events and giving kids the chance to dress up as thier favourite character from a book.

The day also hope to encourage children to write for themselves, and the Storycraft section of the World Book Day website has tips and hints form top children's authors an how they write thir books.
