Like most mothers, Ellie Dixon wanted to teach her daughter the same decent moral values and respects that she learned as a child......... values that sometimes seem to have been lost in today's world.

She discovered that her mother had kept a collection of books that she'd saved from Ellie’s own childhood.The stories were entertaining and exciting with beautiful pictures, they also communicated strong moral values in a fun way.She had read them to Ellie and then made up little activities to do together, all the time building good moral character, without even realising it!!

Her own daughter loved those books every bit as much and it was her idea to make these old books available to a new generation, and so Scruffy’s Bookshop was founded.

Scruffy’s Bookshop is a family-run company based in Devon that offers these vintage children’s books carefully restored and edited to be as fresh and vibrant as the day they were printed. The books are carefully selected for quality and enjoyment value for today’s youngsters – just unsophisticated stories, beautifully illustrated – a great introduction to the world of quality books.
