Top Baby Names In 2007
Jack once again proved to be the most popular boys name in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales in 2007. Jack has now been the top boys’ name for 13 years running. Grace moved up one place from last year to become the most popular girls name.
In the girls top five, Ruby moves up two places to number two. Last years top girls name, Olivia, drops two places to number three while Emily rises one place to number four and Jessica falls two to number five.
The boys top five is largely unchanged with Thomas remaining at number two, Oliver up one place to number three, Joshua down one to number four and no change number five for Harry.
There are a couple of new names in the top 50. Ava enters the top 50 at number 41 and Summer is warming up, going in at number 44.
The boys top 50 saw three new entries this year. Jayden is the highest new entry at 32, it's popularity probably due to Britney Spears calling her son Jayden. Isaac and Finley have entered the top 50 baby names for 2007 at 42 and 47 respectively.
Girls names which have gained popularity in 2007 are Isabelle, Imogen and Sophia. Boys names which have increased in popularity are Alfie and Oscar. Mohammed and Muhammad have also both increased their popularity as a baby name in 2007.
Anna and Paige have dropped out the girls top 50 for 2007 and Bradley, Rhys and Kyle have left the boys top 50.
In Wales alone, the top boys names for 2007 were Jack, Dylan, Thomas, Joshua and Rhys, and the top gorls names are Ruby, Megan, Grace, Chloe and Emily.
In Scotland the most popular baby names were Lewis, Jack, Ryan, James and Callum, and the top girls names are Sophie, Emma, Lucy, Katie and Erin.
In Northern Ireland the most popular boys baby names in 2007 were Jack, James, Matthew, Daniel and Ryan, while the most popular girls names are Katie, Grace, Sophie, Lucy and Emma.
